What is an invisible character?
It is a real Unicode character that renders as nothing (zero width) or as blank space, but is not the ordinary space bar character (U+0020). Because apps usually only strip normal spaces, the invisible character passes validation and the field looks empty.
Which invisible character works for Fortnite, Discord or Instagram names?
U+3164 (Hangul Filler) is the most widely accepted — it works in Fortnite, Discord nicknames, PUBG, Free Fire and most game launchers. U+2800 (Braille blank) is the usual fallback. Instagram usernames only allow letters, numbers, dots and underscores, but the display name and bio accept blank characters.
Why does the pasted text look like a normal space?
Some characters (U+3164, U+2800, U+3000) have visible width, so they show as a gap. Zero-width characters (U+200B, U+200C, U+2060) have no width at all and are useful for breaking words or hiding markers, but many username filters reject them.
Can invisible characters break anything?
They can confuse search and sorting, and a zero-width joiner (U+200D) between emoji may merge them into a combined emoji. Use them for display names and messages, not for passwords or email addresses.
